Cumbria is rich in cultural organisations and venues: theatres, art galleries, historic houses and museums abound. Yet Black and Brown people are almost completely absent in its cultural scene. Young Black people growing up here will likely never see an artist or performer that looks like them, or a production which reflects their experiences.
Spotlight ON is a 6-month pilot project to shine a light on Black and Brown creatives with a link to Cumbria, through a series of ‘Instagram lives’. The Instagram Live interviews will be 20-30 mins long, broadcast live and archived for public view for 6 months on Instagram and Youtube.
